December 2023, we spent half a day playing in the sand. We walk a 2-mile trail to check out some for the back country camp areas. We loved that this national park is dog friendly. Sure does look like snow doesn't it and people like to shed down the dunes. The dunes are gypsum sand that covers 275 square miles.

We traveled through this national park as Tom hiked the AT. It was great to share camp with my trail family. Here we met JP and Double G. When we were here it was extremely rainy and there 60 mile an hour winds that dropped trees on the trail and the roads.
Smokey Mountain National Park | 2023
We traveled through the Smokey Mountain National Park on our Appalachian Trail Adventure. We had a few nice days, but for the most part it was rainy and cold at night. There are 72 miles of the AT that pass through this park following the Tennessee- North Carolina border. The highest point of the hike is Clingman's Dome.
